In The UAE if any Individuals found forging, altering, or using fake academic certificates in the UAE will face Fines of Dh30,000 and jail for three years in prison. In recent cases the UAE courts announced and have handed down prison sentences.
Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) Minister Ahmed Abdullah Al Hammadi, Director of the Legal Affairs Department at MoHESR says it was making exceptional efforts to verify the authenticity and integrity of academic qualifications issued by higher education institutions.
“The ministry places the highest priority on safeguarding the credibility of academic qualifications, whether issued within the UAE or abroad. This forms part of the ministry’s strategic direction to strengthen integrity in higher education and protect the credibility of academic qualifications.”
The ministry Ahmed Abdullah Al Hammadi, said its verification framework is designed to detect discrepancies, and it is an indication of a criminal offence.
As Under Article 252 of Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021 on Crimes and Penalties, forging an official document can carry a prison sentence of up to 10 years, while forgery of an unofficial document is punishable by detention.
